Koh Tao

We got to Koh Tao by ferry from Koh Pangan. It was a 1.5h drive.

A surprise was waiting for us at the pier in Koh Tao – a driver from our hotel was waiting for us 🙂 We stayed at the Sensi Paradise Beach Resort and got upgraded to a bungalow next to the sea with a big balcony/terrace and a great view.

The resort has two great pools, a spa/massage area and a really good breakfast (buffet style), again with traditional thai food. I loved the rice-soup, ate it every day 🙂

Mae Hat is the main village on the small island and it was a 5 minute-walk from our bungalow to the village centre. A lot of great food-stalls, souvenir shops and diving/snorkeling tour providers. This island is a sort of hotspot for divers, cause of all the great reefs nearby.

We did a one day snorkeling tour around the island with a stop at Koh Nang Yuan, a small island right next to Koh Tao. In the morning we got picked up by our boat driver at the beach directly in front of the Resort. He also brought lunch, which was included in the tour. Because of rough weather the day before our snorkeling programm was changed a bit, so we stayed only on the west side of the island. Planned were two stops on the east side of the island as well, but due to too strong winds, we had to stay on the west side. But that was great too, we got as far south as Mango Bay. We saw a lot of colourful fishes, ranging from small to big.

My cousin cut her knee pretty bad on a reef and we had to go back to the, cause it was bleeding heavily. But Lena was well prepared and we got her back on her feet in no time. For the last part, Koh Nang Yuan, she stayed at the bungalow and Lena and I went alone. Cristal clear turquoise water, a viewpoint with an amazing view 😉 and again so many beautiful fishies 😀

The whole time we stayed on the island, we ate so much great food again: Seafood with rice and vegetables, pork with rice and garlic + the best fruit-shakes by far (melon, pineapple, mango), different sorts of grilled fish (white snapper, squid and king prawns) with corncob, potatoes and salad, pad thai with seafood and chicken, red curry and no name chicken, fried rice with shrimp and fresh fruit.

We´ve been to a nice bar in the city – Bro´s & Sis. It is also a 2 star Hotel, directly at the seafront with a beautiful sunset view. They got great food and superduper cocktails (Caipiroshkas and Mai Thais).

Lena also went to get a massage every day we stayed on the island. Painful most of the time, but really relaxing afterwards 😀
