Flying – to find cheap flights, always use a private browser (you should find the button in your browser menu) and switch off your cookies settings. If you are looking for flights on your laptop or phone, use another laptop/phone to book those flights, otherwise they get more expensive every time you look up those flights. We normally search for our flights with skyscanner, checkfelix, momondo or opodo.
Hostels/Hotels – for our asia trips, we always book with agoda. It´s easy and cheap, and up till now, everything was as promised on the photos and in the description. We also like hostelbookers, we booked all our hostels in Australia with it.
ATM´s – you can read and hear everywhere, that it´s much more expensive to withdraw money at the airport than in the city, but we always did withdraw at the airport and we will do it in the future. Cause we feel more comfortable having some local currency in our pockets. We have no idea, if those „facts“ are true, cause we never once checked on our bank accounts, if it was really cheaper to withdraw in the city.
Expenses – we alternate and one of us is writing down the amounts each of us payed. In between or in the end we sum it up seperately, compare and settle our scores. It´s a really old school way, but it always worked for us. On our next trip, we will try out the splitwise app. We will keep you posted.
