Lan Ha Bay is like the little sister of the more famous Halong Bay. It is far less crowded and thus the nature is better preseved.
Our tour includes an overnight stay in a bungalow on monkey island, the transfer from hanoi – monkey island – hanoi, kayaking and meals. We booked this tour with „hanoi eco tours“. There is also a tour available, where you can sleep on a boat.
We got picked up from our hostel – Hanoi Backpackersuite Hostel – at around 7:30 am. The ride to our destination, the Monkey Island Resort, took about 5 hours with various stops on the way (to pick up other tour guests, toilet break, speed boat ride, drop off on Cat Ba Island).

Cause the boat tour was planned for the next day, we had the whole afternoon to relax at two beaches and a pool. We also did a little hike to see some (nasty) monkeys who stole some stuff from other tourists who weren’t paying attention. This hike was really fun, Lena still can’t walk properly cause of muscle pain and she almost lost her phone 🙃

This whole trip included lunch, dinner and breakfast. We got so much food, at some point we had 7!!! plates on our table. They just kept coming.

Our tour through Lan Ha Bay started at 8am. It turned out to be a private tour with our own tourguide. We saw a floating village (people build their houses on the sea and live and work there the whole year), turtle rock (a rock that looks like a turtle 😜) and went kayaking for an hour 🛶 (this was really fun, after we mastered our kayaking skills).
The floating village we drove through has a population of about 1000 people. Their children go to school on the main land and some of them don’t have a house, they live on their boat. Their convenience store is also on a boat as well as their gas station.

Next stop: kayaking 👏 At first we had our little problems stearing that thing, but it turned out to be really fun.
After we finished our kayaking trip, we headed back home to the monkey island resort, got some lunch (this time we got only 5 plates) and started our journey back to Hanoi.
We got to our Hostel at around 5 pm, checked into our private room 🙃👌 and went out to get some dinner. We ended up in a laotian restaurant.

As a dessert we got ice cream 🍦from Goofoo Gelato 🙃

On our walk through the city we stumbled upon a group of ladies dancing or working out in the middle of the night in the middle of a park 💃 We almost joined them 😆

Today was also october the 31st, HALLOWEEN 🧟🎃. We saw a lot of dressed up kids and some grown ups, there is also a whole street full of shops selling all kinds of halloween stuff. But than it started to rain and everybody was off the streets in no time.

This was the cue for us to go home and get some sleep for the first time in three days 😴
