Grab is THE ride-hailing platform in southeast asia, like UBER in the states. Look out for green helmets and green jackets.

We had no idea this existed, until we talked to a lokal on our streetfood tour in Ho Chi Minh City. You only need your phone, a credit card and a local sim-card. If you buy a sim-card right after you get off your plane at the airport, you can register right there and grab a Grab from the airport, which is way cheaper than taking a taxi. There is also no chance of getting ripped-off cause it’s a fixed price system. But there is always a chance to buy a sim-card later on in the city.
You can choose between a Grab car or a Grab motorbike. If you are travelling alone, the Grab motorbike is definitely your ride to be. It’s the fastest and cheapest way to get to your hotel and around the city.
Cause we are not travelling alone, we have to book a car. It’s not possible to book two Bikes with one phone. It would be possible of course, if either of us bought a simcard. But we thought, one is enough.
The great thing about Grab is, after you’re registered, you just have to type in your current location and where you want to go and within a few minutes, your driver is around to pick you up. The app will send you a photo and the name of your designated driver, the model, colour and licence plate of your car/motorbike, so you will get the right one.
You will be paying for your ride with your credit card, but the amount will be debited from your account only after you arrive at your destination.
The cool thing about Grab is, that it’s not only a ride-hailing platform. They also deliver food, cheap and fast.
